Coaching has a rich history for personal, business, and professional life. In recent years coaching has been acknowledged as one of the best professions. International Coach Federation (ICF) is one of the most widely recognized accreditations in the coaching industry globally. Coach practitioners with ICF certificates are considered highly trained coaches who have gone through rigorous training as per the ICF standards.
There are many things we expect from a coach. Nowadays, coaching credentials are most important before hiring for internal or consulting coaching positions.
Awareness of coaching is continuously growing, and more tools are available. Unfortunately, this is the fastest growth, coupled with a lack of formal regulation that creates many scams.
For becoming a coach, there are many things you have to look at when taking any program. Our team transformation team have many things available. We have an ICF accredited coach training program that will help anyone achieve a great level from a reputed coaching institute.
We will be sharing the following points that must be taken care of before taking any Course from any of the coaching institutes.
1. Is your coaching program accredited?
ICF has developed the standard requirements for coaching programs. Make sure to look for programs that are ICF certified. You can find the ICF logos on their courses or even use the ICF-TPSS to check their authentication.
All the ICF-accredited training providers have to follow the ICF standards, ICF Ethics, and at least 80% of the curriculum should be based on the ICF Core Competencies. ICF does not provide any coach training for becoming a coach. Instead, they provide accreditation to training institutions and providers. Team Transformation provides ICF-accredited coach training programs for executives, leaders, managers, and organizations who wish to learn to coach on a personal, professional, and organizational level.
2. Are the trainers in your coaching institute credentialed?
There are many coaching bodies. When you consider a coach training program, you should ask whether the trainer is accredited and at what level. Many coaches will put their credentials on their name on their LinkedIn profile. You should ask the person you are corresponding with about your coach training program to let you know what certificate your trainer holds.
In the coaching world, that expertise is the coaching credentials. Coaches must complete training and demonstrate knowledge, but they must also log coaching hours with clients.
3. Is your mentoring included in the quoted price or you have to pay an extra cost?
Depending upon the type of program you choose, Mentor Coaching may or may not be a part of your training. Mentor coaching helps you improvise your coaching skills on a personal and group level. Plus, it will help you in fulfilling your ICF Credential requirement as well.
Many coach training institutes charge extra for mentoring. Low training course price on the surface can get double when mentoring is charged separately on it. It is important to note that mentoring can be provided only by the credentialed coaches.
When you are quoted with the course fees, it must look like mentoring included or mentoring not included. Ask the coach training provider explicitly about this. If Mentoring is included, then you should check the number of hours included in the Mentoring.
